EsportsTravel Summit to Be Held in Atlantic City June 25–27
Posted On: January 16, 2019 By :The 2019 EsportsTravel Summit—the only event of its kind for esports tournament and event organizers—will be held June 25–27 in Atlantic City. Presented by SportsTravel magazine, the EsportsTravel Summit is being hosted by Meet AC and the Atlantic City Sports Commission with support from the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) and INGAME.
The EsportsTravel Summit is the only business conference that focuses exclusively on the phenomenal growth of esports and video-game competitions and how the travel industry can profit from it. The Summit facilitates partnerships between esports organizations and the destination/hospitality industry while providing educational programming and multiple business networking opportunities.
“We are truly excited to partner with Meet AC and the Atlantic City Sports Commission given their commitment to positioning Atlantic City as a hub for esports tournaments and events,” said Timothy Schneider, founder of the EsportsTravel Summit and chairman of the Sports Division of Northstar Travel Group, which publishes SportsTravel magazine and also organizes the annual TEAMS Conference & Expo. “Destinations, venues and suppliers who want to understand esports and grow relationships in this rapidly expanding market should make plans now to attend the EsportsTravel Summit in Atlantic City,” said Schneider.
“We are thrilled to host the 2019 EsportsTravel Summit in Atlantic City. By hosting this high-caliber event, it will help guide the future growth of esports tournaments and events in our destination,” said Jim Wood, president and CEO for Meet AC and the Atlantic City Sports Commission.
The EsportsTravel Summit was launched in conjunction with the TEAMS Conference & Expo in Orlando in 2017 and was held as a stand-alone event for the first time in July 2018 in Las Vegas. The Summit has achieved success by filling an information vacuum that exists for both organizers of esports events and those in the travel and tourism industry who want to understand and profit from the esports phenomenon. Globally, the number of esports enthusiasts is estimated at 191 million people–and growing. Just as the major sports leagues have identified esports as the best way to engage with the next generation of fans, visionary venues, destinations and sports organizations can leverage esports tournaments and events to attract the next generation of visitors and followers.
“Esports has the potential to become the future of spectator sports,” said Casino Reinvestment Development Authority Executive Director Matt Doherty. “Hosting the EsportsTravel Summit this June will position Atlantic City as a hub for esports tournaments and events.”
The EsportsTravel Summit is being scheduled to conclude just as Drone Expo International opens their show at the Atlantic City Convention Center. Summit attendees will have the opportunity to go behind the scenes of the 2019 Drone Expo East and will be among the first to see a demonstration race staged by DEI’s new international drone racing league. Registration for the EsportsTravel Summit will also include a one-day exhibit hall pass for Drone Expo East.
