eFIBA’s Third Season to Feature 61 Nations

FIBA's official NBA 2K tournament includes a $50,000 prize pool

The third season of eFIBA, the official NBA 2K tournament organized by the international federation for basketball, has released the list of 61 national teams that will battle for regional championship titles and a spot in the eFIBA World Finals.

eFIBA Season 3 will feature NBA 2K25 on the PlayStation 5, with national federations from around the globe getting the chance to play for a share of the $50,000 prize pool. The United States team, which won the season two championship, highlights the North and Central America and Caribbean region, which includes the Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Puerto Rico.

The competition will tip off on October 1 with Regional Pre-Qualifiers and finish on October 14. On October 15, the Regional Qualifiers and Regional Finals will begin, running through November 7. Eight teams will eventually qualify for the eFIBA World Finals, which will be played in person in December.

Europe will have the largest region with 22 national federations playing. Africa follows with 17 nations participating, along with nine in the Asia/Oceania region. The Middle East and South America regions will each include four teams.

The third eFIBA season will build on the success of the second season. At DreamHack Winter 2023 in Sweden, more than 45,000 people were present as the eFIBA Season 2 World Finals took center stage in Jonkoping on November 25–26. The event was streamed on the Twitch and YouTube channels of both eFIBA and FIBA.

The United States were crowned champions during the in-person eFIBA World Finals, with France coming in second, Turkey third and the Philippines finishing fourth.
