Del Mar to Host 2025 Breeders’ Cup World Championships
The San Diego venue will also host the 2024 Breeders' Cup
Posted On: November 9, 2023 By :Del Mar Thoroughbred Club will host the 2025 Breeders’ Cup World Championships, the third consecutive Breeders’ Cup event in California and the second consecutive year it will be at Del Mar.
Del Mar, located on the edge of the Pacific Ocean in San Diego County, was previously announced as the host site for the 2024 Breeders’ Cup, while the 2023 version took place this past weekend at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California.
Del Mar is set to serve as Breeders’ Cup host for a fourth time in 2025 after also hosting in 2017 and 2021. Consisting of 14 Grade 1 races with purses and awards totaling more than $31 million, the 42nd World Championships are scheduled for October 31 and November 1, 2025.
“Our return to Del Mar in back-to-back years marks the continuation of a wonderful collaboration and successful partnership, both with our friends at the track and with the greater San Diego area, demonstrating our continued commitment to California horse racing,” said Drew Fleming, president and chief executive officer of Breeders’ Cup Limited. “We look forward to once again gathering where the turf meets the surf as the world’s best thoroughbreds put on an incredible show.”
The Breeders’ Cup debut at Del Mar in 2017 resulted in a record-breaking, two-day on-track wagering mark, while generating an estimated $96.8 million for San Diego County.

The 2024 Breeders’ Cup is scheduled to take place at Del Mar from November 1–2.
