David Gibbons Appointed Executive Director of the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority

David Gibbons has been selected to take the helm of the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority as its executive director, effective January 4, 2016. In his new role, Gibbons will oversee ownership and operations of MCCA’s four facilities: the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention, the MassMutual Center and the Boston Common Parking Garage.
Gibbons has spent more than 30 years in the hospitality industry, serving as general manager for Swissotel (now the Hyatt Regency/Boston), the Drake Hotel in New York and the Taj Boston. He also has leadership experience in areas that include operations, food and beverage, finance and labor relations.
“I am pleased to welcome David to the MCCA,” said Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker. “As a former hospitality executive and head of the Massachusetts Lodging Association, David brings the leadership experience and credentials needed to maintain a thriving convention and tourism industry in Massachusetts.”
