USA Wrestling will bring two major national events to Coralville, Iowa, in March, to be held at the Xtream Arena & GreenState Family Fieldhouse.
The USA Wrestling High School National Recruiting Showcase, a new event, will be held at the venue near Iowa City from March 25–27. The annual USA Wrestling Girls Folkstyle Nationals will be staged March 27–28.
The recruiting showcase will serve as the culmination of a nine-event series for high school boys and girls. Boys will compete in folkstyle and girls will wrestle freestyle in the event. The USA Wrestling Girls Folkstyle Nationals, one of the largest tournaments for girls in the nation, will feature national competition in six age divisions: USA Junior, 16U, 14U, 12U, 10U, 8U.
The Iowa City Area Sports Commission and Think Iowa City, the convention and visitors bureau for the Iowa City/Coralville region, will serve as the local organizing committee. The new Xtream Arena also hosted USA Wrestling’s first major event back since the pandemic, the Senior Nationals staged in October.
USA Wrestling said the events will follow requirements of state and local health authorities, as well as safety provisions in the national governing body’s Return to Events Guidelines. The local organizing committee is also in regular contact with the county’s public health department and University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
