Cookson Wins Election for UCI President
Posted On: September 27, 2013 By :Brian Cookson has been elected president of UCI, the international governing body for the sport of cycling. Cookson defeated incumbent President Pat McQuaid, who had been in office since 2005.
Cookson has been president of British Cycling since 1996. He won the UCI position on a 24-18 vote in an election that divided national federations of the sport. USA Cycling had endorsed Cookson in the election.
