Colorado World Arena and AEG Facilities
Posted On: April 16, 2014 By :The Colorado Springs World Arena and AEG Facilities have finalized a comprehensive multi-year venue services agreement focusing on event booking and sponsorship sales. Additionally, it was announced that the Colorado Springs World Arena will take on its original name, the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs. The nonprofit ownership and management of the arena will remain the same under terms of the deal.
“This agreement with AEG is wonderful for the World Arena, for the Broadmoor and certainly our community. What AEG brings in terms of access to content in sports and entertainment will be a benefit to the entire community,” said Steve Bartolin, the Broadmoor president and CEO.
The original Broadmoor World Arena opened in 1938 as part of the Broadmoor Hotel and was home ice to many Olympic skaters and special events.
“In today’s competitive entertainment environment, associating the World Arena with the Broadmoor—a five-star property known for quality and service—and AEG Facilities—the powerhouse of sports and entertainment—is a venue manager’s dream come true,” said Dot Lischick, general manager of the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs.
With a network of venues across five continents, AEG Facilities provides resources and access to other AEG-affiliated proprietary entities and initiatives.
“We are excited to welcome the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs into AEG’s global network of elite venues,” said Bob Newman, AEG Facilities president. “With an arena staff we consider to be tops in the industry and a market that is a proven leader in hosting a diverse offering of sports and entertainment events, we are confident that the Colorado Springs community will see an even greater variety of entertainment options in the coming months and years.”
As part of the announcement, arena officials also revealed plans for the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche and Los Angeles Kings to play an exhibition game at the venue on October 2, 2014. As part of the event festivities, the teams will host a celebrity golf tournament on October 1 at the Broadmoor Golf Resort, with proceeds benefiting the USA Hockey Foundation.
