College Football Bowl Schedule, Including 12-Team CFP Playoff, Released
First bowl game will be December 14 with 44 games in all scheduled
Posted On: June 6, 2024 By :The 2024–2025 college football bowl season of 44 games will start the second weekend of December with the opening weekend of the expanded College Football Playoff starting a week later on December 20.
“We’re thrilled to announce the full slate for all 44 bowl games next season,” said Nick Carparelli, executive director of Bowl Season. “Unveiling the bowl schedule is one of the highlights on our calendar as it brings us one step closer to this annual celebration of college football. Bowl Season will be here before we know it and we can’t wait.”
December 14 will kick off the bowl schedule with the Cricket Celebration Bowl at noon ET and the Camellia Bowl at 9 pm ET.
Other notable bowl games include the Hawai’i Bowl on Christmas Eve, returning to its traditional spot. The busiest day of bowl season will be December 28, which features eight games including two at baseball stadiums — the Fenway Bowl at Fenway Park in Boston and the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. There are two other games at Major League Baseball stadiums, the December 26 Guaranteed Rate Bowl at Chase Field in Phoenix and the Holiday Bowl (date TBD) at Petco Park in San Diego.
The four first-round College Football Playoff games will be December 20–21 on campuses to be announced on Selection Day, December 8. The quarterfinals begin December 31 with the Fiesta Bowl at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time. New Year’s Day will kick off with the Peach Bowl at 1 p.m. followed by the Rose Bowl at 5 p.m. spot and the Sugar Bowl at 8:45 p.m. The semifinals are the Orange Bowl on January 9 and Cotton Bowl on January 10 before the championship game January 20 at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Several destinations will host multiple bowl games including Atlanta, which will host the Cricket Bowl, Peach Bowl and then the CFP title game. Orlando has the Cure Bowl on December 20, Pop-Tarts Bowl on December 28 and Citrus Bowl on December 31. Tampa also has two bowl games, the Gasparilla Bowl on December 20 and Reliaquest Bowl on December 31, while Phoenix has the Guaranteed Rate Bowl and then Fiesta Bowl on December 31.
