Charlotte Country Club Awarded Two Future USGA Championship Events
Destination will host 2028 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship and 2033 U.S. Senior Open Championship
Posted On: October 23, 2024 By :Charlotte Country Club has been chosen by the USGA as host for the 2028 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship and 2033 U.S. Senior Open Championship.
The club has previously hosted four USGA championships, including the 1972 U.S. Amateur, 2000 U.S. Senior Amateur, 2010 U.S. Women’s Amateur and 2018 U.S. Mid-Amateur. Charlotte Country Club has also hosted 22 Carolinas Golf Association championships, including nine Carolinas Amateurs and four Carolinas Women’s Amateurs.
“The USGA is excited to return to Charlotte Country Club and are pleased to continue a vibrant relationship that dates to the early 1970s,” said Mark Hill, USGA managing director of championships. “The club, with its comprehensive facilities, has been committed to hosting championships on a national, regional and local level. We know that the course will challenge the world’s best professional and amateur players.”
The 2024 ACC Men’s Golf Championship, two Southern Amateurs and six Charlotte City Amateurs also have been contested at the club. There have been 38 USGA championships played in North Carolina through the 2024 season, including one U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur (2013) and one U.S. Senior Open (1994).
