Carlos Deliz Promoted to Director of Sports Tourism at Discover Puerto Rico

Deliz has been with Discover Puerto Rico for seven years, most recently as senior sports sales manager after spending nearly five years as regional sales manager for sports tourism. Before joining Discover Puerto Rico, he worked at a series of hotel properties on the island.
Discover Puerto Rico was a finalist for 2023 Sports Tourism Organization of the Year at the recent Sports ETA Symposium in Portland, Oregon. The organization in March of this year announced an extension with the PGA Tour of their partnership that will allow the Puerto Rico Open to be played through 2026.
It earlier this year hosted the American Junior Golf Association’s Discover Puerto Rico Junior Championship from January 11–14, 2024 at the Grande Reserve Golf Club and has hosted in the past events ranging from The Laurie Hernåndez Champions Challenge gymnastics meet to Ironman events.
The Puerto Rico Open celebrated its 16th PGA Tour event this year. Puerto Rico’s sports offerings also include Estadio Hiram Bithorn, which opened in 1962 and has hosted dozens of Major League Baseball games as well as the World Baseball Classic three times with a fourth turn as host scheduled for 2026.
