2025 Formula One Race Schedule Released; Six Sprint Races Revealed

Australia will host opening weekend as opening five races are shuffled

Australia will return to the opening weekend for the 2025 Formula One season as the 24-race calendar has been revealed with the opening five events shuffled around.

The 2025 season will start in Melbourne on March 16, followed by China on March 23 before Japan on April 6. The fourth and fifth races, respectively, will be April 13 in Bahrain and April 20 in Saudi Arabia, which the past few years had been the opening two races. The reason for the shuffle is due to the timing of Ramadan through March 2025.

“2025 will be a special year as we celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the FIA Formula One World Championship and it’s that legacy and experience that allows us to deliver such a strong calendar,” said Formula 1 Chief Executive Officer and President Stefano Domenicali. “Once again, we’ll visit 24 incredible venues around the world, delivering top class racing, hospitality, and entertainment, which will be enjoyed by millions of fans worldwide.

Outside of the first five weeks, most of the calendar remains the same including the five North American stops on the schedule. Miami remains in the opening segment of the schedule on May 4, while Montreal hosts in June 15 and the final three North American stops are toward the end of the schedule with Austin on October 19, Mexico City on October 26 and Las Vegas on November 22.

The traditional summer break remains in August, with three weekends off separating the pre-holiday Hungarian Grand Prix and the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. There are no new sites in the 2025 calendar; the next time a site will be modified is 2026 when the Spanish Grand Prix goes to Madrid from Barcelona.

F1 will also have six sprint events during the 2025 season including in Miami and Austin. Three other sprint locations remain the same with São Paulo, Shanghai and Qatar while Belgium will host a sprint race instead of Austria. It will be Belgium’s first sprint weekend since 2023.

“The Sprint has been a great success for Formula 1, bringing all our fans more action and racing on the track,” Domenicali said. “The Sprint is a great example of bringing new elements to our sport in a way that is respectful of the Championship and I want to thank the six venues that will host the Sprint in 2025 and look forward to those incredible events throughout the season.”
