“The Visit Knoxville Sports Commission is looking forward to hosting the US Trail Running Conference in 2024,” said Kim Bumpas, president of Visit Knoxville. “Our destination has so many natural trails providing a variety of terrain, stunning overlooks and unique elements. When pairing these outdoor amenities with all the art, culture, history, and incredible dining our area has to offer, they’ll be sure to have a memorable conference in Knoxville.”
In recent years, Knoxville has been focused on increasing access to the outdoors and showcasing surrounding areas which include the Smoky Mountains and the area’s largest picturesque lakes.
“With access to so many remarkable trails and a terrific location accessible by a large population, Knoxville is an excellent choice to host the USTRC,” said Nancy Hobbs, executive director of the American Trail Running Association. “I am looking forward to updated programming and sessions for the conference and meeting the trail running community on and off the trails in October.”
Within the Urban Wilderness managed spaces, attendees will discover 11 trailhead destinations. Among the options is the popular Battlefield Loop at the William Hastie Natural Area features two natural lakes, a pristine quarry, and a bluff overlooking the University of Tennessee.
“We are excited to bring this year’s USTRC to Knoxville and look forward to a fantastic Conference in Tennessee,” said Event Director Terry Chiplin. “We are determined to shine a light on the growing trail community in the East and Knoxville is the perfect place for us to attract newcomers to our established event. We look forward to working with Visit Knoxville Sports Commission, the American Trail Running Association and our sponsors and exhibitors to produce a memorable conference.”
