Three NHL teams will play games in Europe next season as part of the 2024 NHL Global Series schedule of events in the Czech Republic, Finland and Germany.
The Buffalo Sabres and New Jersey Devils will open the regular season with games on October 4 and October 5 in Prague, preceded by the Sabres playing an exhibition game at Red Bull Munich in Germany on September 27. The Sabres will finish their training camp in Munich and play Red Bull Munich at the team’s new home venue, SAP Garden.
Later in the season, the Dallas Stars and Florida Panthers will play games in Tampere, Finland, on November 1 and November 2. The two games in Tampere will mark the third and fourth games to be played at Nokia Arena in that city and the 10th and 11th in Finland.
Of the 42 previous NHL regular-season games played outside of North America, there have been seven games in Prague. The Global Series is the first time the Stars will play regular-season games outside North America, becoming the 27th franchise to do so. The event will mark the second time the Devils have traveled overseas to play regular-season games and the third such trip for both the Sabres and Panthers.
The 2023 Global Series featured the Detroit Red Wings, Minnesota Wild, Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs in a four-day, round-robin set of regular-season games in Stockholm. The Arizona Coyotes and Los Angeles Kings also played in the first-ever NHL games in the Southern Hemisphere, as Melbourne hosted games on September 23 and September 24 at Rod Laver Arena, home of the Australian Open.
