2024 NHL All-Star Weekend in Toronto Expands to Three Days
Event will be hosted at Toronto's Scotiabank Arena from February 1–3
Posted On: November 28, 2023 By :The National Hockey League will expand its 2024 All-Star Weekend to three days, including additional events involving the newly-formed PWHL.
The weekend will start on Thursday, February 1, with the player draft, alumni man of the year award and PWHL 3-on-3 Showcase. The rest of the weekend includes the All-Star Skills competition on February 2 and the All-Star Game itself on February 3.
The player draft represents the return of a concept that was an element of previous All-Star Weekends. The captains of the four teams will be paired with celebrity captains and will select their teams from the remaining pool of players in a televised draft. The NHL Alumni Keith Magnuson Man of the Year will serve as a tribute to the Stanley Cup-winning 1966–1967 Toronto Maple Leafs, presented annually to a former [layer who has applied the perseverance, commitment and teamwork developed through the game into a successful post-career transition. The PWHL 3-on-3 showcase will feature players from the Professional Women’s Hockey League.
The 2024 event will mark the ninth time the Maple Leafs and Toronto host NHL All-Star activities and the first time since 2000. The roots of the NHL All-Star Game were formed in Toronto — in 1934, Maple Leaf Gardens hosted the ‘All-Star’ game, serving as a benefit fundraiser for Maple Leafs forward Ace Bailey, who suffered a career-ending injury during the 1933–1934 season.
