USA Cycling has chosen Richmond, Virginia, as the location of the 2014 USA Cycling Collegiate Road National Championships. The race, which will serve as a test event for the 2015 UCI Road World Championships, will be held May 2–4, 2014.
The national championship courses used for the road race and time trials are expected to be used in the world championships in 2015. The criterium, which is not a world championship race, will be held in downtown Richmond.
“It will not only provide USA Cycling and the International Cycling Union a valuable opportunity to preview the courses used at the 2015 UCI Road World Championships, but will also give the collegiate riders a challenging ride, coupled with the thrill of racing on the same roads that will test the world’s greatest cyclists in 2015,” said USA Cycling Vice-President of National Events Micah Rice.
Richmond 2015, in conjunction with Medalist Sports, will manage the operations for the 2014 USA Cycling Collegiate Road National Championships.
